Visiting Buckley Air Force Base
Named after World War I flier and Colorado native John H. Buckley, the Buckley Air Force Base was built on land donated to the War Department by Denver, Colorado with a 1942 contract for $7.5 million. Today, Buckley is one of the only bases to house all five branches of the military and is home to at least 12,000 service members of Team Buckley and civilian partners. Visiting the Air Force Base and experiencing Aurora’s daily airshow provided by the F-16’s of the 140th Air Reservistist is easy with Aurora’s selection of nearby hotels and restaurants.
