Sneak Peak at Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel Exhibition
June 28, 2019
Roam the halls of the Vatican right here in Aurora. For six weeks, Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition is taking over The Hangar at Stanley so visitors from Colorado any beyond can discover one of the world’s greatest and most iconic art pieces. Here’s what you can expect.
MORE THAN 30 DIFFERENT CEILING PAINTINGS
Uncover the awe and wonder of thirty-four frescos that adorn the ceilings of the Sistine Chapel. These replica paintings are near the original size and produced in museum-quality, allowing visitors to explore the art from a different perspective. Stand a few feet away from The Creation of Adam as you take in the tiniest details that typically go unnoticed from afar. Each painting stands over six-feet tall and is curated to create a seamless viewing opportunity for everyone. Visitors are also welcomed to view world-renowned pieces, including The Last Judgement (Michelangelo’s altar piece painted after the ceiling), in this exhibition.
A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON CLASSIC ART
Standing only an arm’s length away, visitors can experience a different side of Michelangelo’s artwork. Notice the facial expression, the flow of hands, and the body language that makes these paintings come to life. Created for art lovers, faith-devoted, and everyone in between, the Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition allows everyone to view the art in a modern set-up to explore the dimensions of each piece. Those who’ve already visited the Sistine Chapel in person will be excited to see these replicas in a new light, with unlimited time.
VIEW AT YOUR OWN PACE
Admission pricing allows for visitors to wander the space at their own pace. Designed for up close and personal viewing, explore the intricacy of each painting. Visitors are also encouraged to take photos of the paintings as well as discover the inspiration behind the art.
Signage accompanies each fresco, making it easy to identify precisely what’s in view. For visitors looking for a little extra education, rent an immersive audio guide, which goes in-depth on Michelangelo’s masterpieces and the uniqueness behind their creation.
