Visit Aurora is proud to announce Tom Cooney, Front Desk Supervisor at Springhill Suites Denver Airport, as the winner of the quarterly Visit Aurora Far From Ordinary Award of Excellence.
Cooney was nominated by his manager, Brandan Alcorn, who showcased his eagerness to jump at every opportunity to assist the hotel, his peers, and every guest.
Hired as Front Desk Supervisor in August 2018, Cooney heads the day-to-day operations of getting the hotel ready for guests. From preparing keys to checking in on housekeeping, Cooney and his staff work seamlessly to ensure their guests have a perfect stay.
In addition to his duties as a Front Desk Supervisor, Cooney often goes above and beyond to craft memorable experiences, personal service, and connect with the guests. “Tom’s customer services skills are exemplary, and his persona instantly lights up the room,” said Alcorn.
Customer service has always been at the forefront of Cooney’s career. In fact, his favorite part of his job at Springhill Suites Denver Airport is finding creative solutions. “I really enjoy helping people with their stay and solving their problems. I like that challenge,” said Cooney.
A recent snowstorm canceled flights and left many guests scrambling to find rooms. Cooney worked extra shifts at the fully-booked Springhill Suites Denver Airport and even opened the bar to ensure guests were taken care of. Cooney just counts it as a part of the job.
