March 09, 2018
Warm Sunday afternoons are upon us. Whether you’re looking for family fun, personal relaxation, or heart-pumping adventure, check out these itineraries to plan your next Sunday in Aurora.
Fresh Air Fanatic
Amidst the Rocky Mountain backdrop lie thousands of acres of open space, a variety of reservoirs, and trails to keep you busy on a sunny Sunday.
Morning: Head out before the sun rises to Cherry Creek State Park to see a beautiful Colorado morning for yourself. Pack a snack and coffee for a hike on Pope Trail or, the more traveled, Cherry Creek Trail. Be on the lookout for beautiful wildlife roaming the area.
Afternoon: Pop on over to the Aurora Reservoir for a self-guided paddle boarding session. Too brisk for open water? Rent an electric bike at Pedego Bikes in Southlands and ride around the nearly 10 miles of reservoir trails.
Evening: Take a break from adventure and stop by Cedar Creek Pub for dinner. Their outdoor patio is perfect for dinner, drinks, and warm evenings. Keep the evening going at Ursula Brewing Company right across the street.
Relax and Recharge
Self-care is important, why not take advantage of your time away from home with a little TLC? Between day spas, gyms, and cozy places, you’ll definitely find time to unwind.
Morning: Take it easy! When you’re ready, head over to Jubilee Roasting Co. with a good book. This coffee roaster café even houses art studio space in the back where visitors are welcome to take a look around.
Afternoon: Schedule a manicure or facial with Snow White Beauty Studio to look your best. Or visit Transformations Spa & Salon for full-blown spa treatments, massages, and acupuncture. Either option will leave you feeling relaxed and recharged.
Evening: Put good in by stopping by Protein House restaurant for dinner. Their unique dishes are targeted towards a clean-eating lifestyle and are oh, so tasty. After dinner, take an evening stroll on the Cherry Creek Trail located right down the street.
The land of craft beer is calling! Spend your Sunday sampling some of Aurora’s finest craft beer and wine establishments.
Morning: Enjoy brunch at the Denver Biscuit Company inside Stanley Marketplace. Gear up for the day ahead with homemade dishes and perfectly poured mimosas. Did we mention they have outdoor seating for sunny days?
Afternoon: Head upstairs at Stanley Marketplace to visit one of their grooviest spots, The Infinite Monkey Theorem. This wine bar has the perfect lounge atmosphere and a variety of wines for sipping. You’ll love the wine on tap concept!
Evening: Make your way over to Two22 Brew for an evening of craft beer. Their mission is just as amazing as their beer list. $2.22 of every $10 goes to Colorado non-profits! If you’re adapting this itinerary to a Saturday afternoon, drop by Dry Dock Brewing North Dock for a guided brewery tour between 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Friends and family unite for this active day of everything fun and kid-friendly. Kids of all ages will enjoy these activities. Don’t worry, you will too!
Morning: Gather the crew for a late morning visit to the Plains Conservation Center, an outdoor homestead filled with things to do. Visit the nature center, tour a one-room schoolhouse, or catch a glimpse of Aurora’s prairie wildlife including prairie dogs, hawks, and even pronghorn deer on a family hike.
Afternoon: Fuel up with an Aurora classic that’s perfect for even the pickiest of eaters. Sam’s No. 3 Diner is an American-style diner with everything your family loves. Their kid-friendly options are great for little ones.
Evening: To wrap up a day of fun, stop by Ubergrippen Indoor Climbing Crag to test out your climbing skills. With over 16,000 sq. ft. of climbs, rentable gear, and knowledgeable staff, your family can feel confident climbing like a real Coloradoan. There’s even a climbing space designed specifically for kids with shorter walls, mini bouldering, and even a slide!
