Discover and honor those who’ve served our nation by visiting the Colorado Freedom Memorial. Located at 765 Telluride Street in Aurora, this admission-free memorial is the nation’s first to honor all Colorado veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice regardless of rank, branch, or war. Situated on a four-acre park with benches and open space, visitors are welcome to take a self-guided tour of the memorial. You may even catch a glimpse of the F-16 jets flying overhead!
Experience the Colorado wilderness with a guide by your side or take the family out on an adventure of your own! Buckley Air Force Base proudly offers excellent Outdoor Recreation Services for military members, airmen, and their families. From adrenaline-pumping adventures such as downhill mountain biking (like Airman Jacob Deatherage pictured above) to laid-back paddleboarding trips or hitting up a family-friendly theme park, there’s a lot to discover. The Outdoor Recreation Office also rents a variety of gear for every season including skis, snowboards, bikes, tents, and even a pontoon boat! Not sure where to start? As a notice, in order to access Buckley Air Force Base’s Outdoor Recreation Office and other on-base activities, you will need to have a military identification card or be accompanied by someone who has a military identification card. More information on accessing programs can be found here.
They’re your neighborhood microbrewery founded by a husband-wife duo. Launch Pad Brewery is owned and operated by two veterans and its rocket-themed taproom is ready for blast off! With unique brews on tap, near-daily food trucks, and special releases all wrapped up in a casual atmosphere, Launch Pad Brewery is an ideal location for everyone. Located at 884 South Buckley Road in Aurora, it’s the perfect stop if you’re headed back from the base.
Thanks to the crew at Eagle’s Nest Ranch, service veterans, active duty members, and their families are welcome to enjoy an operational horse ranch to help with anxiety or stress relief. The no-cost Healing Horses for Armed Forces program is designed to connect service members and veterans to a safe and relaxing environment surrounded by wildlife. It's adaptable for kids and adults which is the perfect way to involve the entire family in a new experience caring for horses.
