Christmas in July

We just can't wait for these holiday events!

The holiday season is only six months away. If you’re planning a trip to Aurora over the winter, learn more about these family-focused events perfect for spreading a little holiday cheer.

Enjoy a modern-yet-timeless installation at Stanley Marketplace Nov. 21 through Jan. 5. Camp Christmas is a 10,000 sq. ft. installation and light show that gives visitors ample picture opportunities while celebrating holiday traditions old and new. This over-the-top extravaganza is the brainchild of artist and storyteller, Lonnie Hanzon. You can even catch Santa Claus there every Saturday afternoon, enjoy a beverage (or two) while wandering the exhibit, and buy group tickets so all your friends can enjoy. In addition to Camp Christmas, visitors can expect pop-up events, Santa sightings, holiday tree lightings, and other festive events inside Stanley Marketplace. Learn more on their website.

Celebrate the First Christmas at Gaylord Rockies with multiple holiday-themed events. Starting Nov. 22 through Jan. 5, the resort will be transformed into a winter wonderland complete with a Mistletoe Village with seasonal eats and Build-A-Bear Workshop. Gaylord Rockies will also launch their first annual ICE! event featuring Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Visitors can wander through the wintery attraction made of two million pounds of expertly carved ice sculptures. Also, purchase your tickets in advance for a performance by Cirque Dream Holidaze, an interesting and exciting holiday theatrical production with dozens of dancers and cirques performers. Throughout the 45-days visitors are welcome to stop by and enjoy holiday lights and more in the Grand Lodge. Learn more on their website.

Enjoy a winter activity the whole family can participate in. The Pond, an outdoor ice-skating rink at Southlands Lifestyle Center, opens in late November and runs through March. Underneath the twinkling lights, visitors can rent both child and adult-sized skates or enjoy a cup of hot chocolate. Open daily, even on holidays and weekends, The Pond is also host to a variety of winter-themed events including Skate with Santa. In addition to ice skating, visitors can also take advantage of Southlands’ classic holiday events, including photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, painting, and more. Learn more about The Pond on our site.

Bring in the holiday season with a classic tree lighting hosted by the City of Aurora. On Tuesday. Dec. 3, visitors can stop by the Aurora Municipal Center (AMC) for the annual city tradition. As in years past, there will be a special visit from Santa Claus. Watch in awe as a massive holiday Christmas tree lights up the Great Hall inside the AMC building and the outdoor courtyard is flooded with holiday colors and lights. This event runs from 5:00 PM through 7:00 PM and is admission-free. Learn more on their website.
