It’s perfect for families and friends
The Pond at Southlands is a place of gathering. With lots of events throughout the holiday season, including the annual tree lighting complete with live performances, it’s great for entertaining. The kid-friendly atmosphere rings true as children (and adults) of all ages are encouraged to skate. If you’re really lucky, you may even catch Santa on a pair of ice skates!
Feel free to bring your own ice skates
If you’re a seasoned skater, chances are you already own a pair of ice skates. The Pond permits visitors to bring their own skates, but if you’re new to the winter sport, rentals are only $2.50 per pair. Admission for the day is $8.50 per adult and $3.50 for children 3 and under. More info on rentals can be found here.
It’s open on the most magical of days
Nothing is more breathtaking than snowfall on Christmas Eve. Create your own holiday tradition by ice skating under the twinkling lights this Christmas or New Year’s Eve. The Pond is open Christmas Eve from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Christmas Day starting at 1:00 p.m. and New Year’s Eve starting at 12:00 p.m. You can check out the full list of hours here.
There are lots of things to do
There are two types of people: those who enjoy skating and those who don’t. Never fear, there’s plenty to keep everyone occupied! Warm up with a hot chocolate from nearby Legends Coffee Co. or grab a bite to eat a the newly opened Bar Louie. You can even finish up some last-minute Christmas shopping to ensure you’ve got something for everyone on your list.
