This year marks the 40th anniversary of the annual industry celebration

Aurora, CO May 4, 2023— National Travel and Tourism Week, (NTTW), the annual celebrationof the contributions of the U.S. travel industry, will spotlight the essential role that travel willplay in driving economic growth and innovation through the theme #TravelForward.

“The travel industry fuels every industry—our industry’s success is the nation’s success,” said U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Geoff Freeman. “This week is a prime opportunity to elevate the message that travel is essential to moving America’s economy forward.”

Established in 1983, NTTW is an annual tradition to mark the U.S. travel industry's role instimulating economic growth, cultivating vibrant communities, creating quality job opportunities, producing business activity, and elevating the quality of life for everyday Americans.

Travel serves as a catalyst for a productive U.S. economy and helps power the success of other industries. In 2022, visitors spent $192 million in Aurora, CO, and produced $33 million in tax revenue. It also supports over 7,300 hospitality jobs in Aurora alone.

“As a second-generation hospitality professional, this line of work holds a special place in myheart,” said Bruce Dalton, President and CEO of Visit Aurora. "There are not many industries where you can start as a front-line worker and end up as the CEO," notes Dalton, who started his career as a bellman at the Twin Bridges Marriott Hotel and progressed with positions with Marriott and Hyatt hotels, as well as sales roles with the convention and visitors bureaus in SanAntonio, Nashville, Hawaii, and Fort Worth before his helm in Aurora.

Visit Aurora is celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week by recognizing travel's essential contributions in a video series highlighting hospitality jobs in Aurora. A trailer has already been released, and full-length features will roll out over through the end of the year. A dedicated landing page has also been created to provide job seekers and employers with resources.
