Soup and Cider: Soup and Chili Cookoff

'I Am the Dream' 40th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration 2026

Honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the City of Aurora during the 40th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration in January 2026. Guided by this year’s theme, “I Am the Dream,” the community is invited to take part in a series of free, inspiring events that celebrate service, unity and Dr. King’s enduring impact. The commemoration includes service projects, an opening celebration and prayer vigil, an interfaith breakfast, youth and family programming, a wreath-laying ceremony, and the 2026 MLK Marade. Join Aurora in reflecting, serving and continuing Dr. King’s vision of justice and hope for all.

Fox Flix

Fox Flix returns to the Aurora Fox in 2026 for its second year, offering an expanded cinematic experience. The program will feature classic, family-friendly movies on select Saturday afternoons, alongside a new addition of Art House Films on Thursday evenings. Patrons can enjoy snacks and drinks from the concessions area while experiencing a range of cinema in the historic theater.

The Pond Ice Rink

The Pond at Southlands Shopping Center is still open throughout January! Visitors can rent skates on-site and enjoy the ice underneath the twinkling lights. The admission fee is $15. Remember to purchase tickets in advance!
