MARATHON: A 20-Hour Music Event with The Playground Ensemble

Join Denver's The Playground Ensemble and Friends of Chamber Music as they celebrate their 20th season with an unforgettable afternoon of music, creativity, and community right here at Stanley Marketplace.

MARATHON is a 20-hour music event spanning four sessions across different Denver venues. Stanley is proud to host one of them.

What You Can Expect

Family & Community Music-Making from 1:00–2:30 PM: create your own instruments, compose using colors and shapes, record beats at an electronic music station, make tongue depressor kazoos, and explore a collection of unique found-sound instruments

Community Singing at 2:00 PM: meet in the Stanley Common Area for a group performance of Pauline Oliveros' Tuning Meditation, an immersive, participatory singing experience open to all

String Quartet Concert at 2:30 PM: the Playground String Quartet performs an eclectic program featuring works by Latino, Indigenous, and women composers including Gabriela Ortiz, Raven Chacon, and Caroline Shaw
