Neurodivergent Tweens Music Group

Welcome to the Neurodivergent Tweens Music Group!

This engaging music therapy group is designed to foster self-expression, positive social interactions, and emotional growth for neurodivergent tweens ages 10-13. Using music as a tool for connection and self-discovery participants will develop valuable skills in a fun and supportive environment.

When: Fridays, 10:00AM-11AM - July 10th, 17th, 24th, & 31st

Who Can Join: Neurodivergent tweens ages 10-13 looking to build connections, enhance communication skills, and explore self-expression through music.

Cost: $100($25/class)

What We Do:

In our sessions, we will use engaging music therapy techniques such as songwriting, instrument play, musical games, rhythm-based activities, and music listening to achieve the following goals:

 Self-Expression: Encouraging creative expression through songwriting, improvisation,

and music sharing.

 Positive Social Interactions: Engaging in cooperative music-making to build peer

connections.

 Community Building/Inclusion: Creating a safe and supportive environment where

each participant feels valued.

 Self-Advocacy Skills: Practicing self-expression and boundary-setting through

personalized music activities.

 Body Awareness: Incorporating movement-based music activities to promote

mindfulness and body awareness.

 Emotional Identification: Exploring emotions through lyric analysis, instrument play, songwriting, and other music activities.

No music experience is required! Whether your tween is drawn to singing, rhythm, or just enjoys listening to music, there’s a place for them in this group.

Who Is Your Group Leader?

Melissa Rink, Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)

Melissa brings extensive experience working with neurodivergent tweens and teens through her background in special education and her work at Creative Remedies, LLC. She uses a person-centered, neuro-affirming approach that prioritizes client autonomy, fostering a safe space where tweens can explore their strengths and connect with others. Melissa's commitment to creating meaningful, engaging experiences through music makes her passionate about guiding participants toward self-expression, confidence, and positive social connections in the Neurodivergent Tweens Music Group.
