Overview

Slanted tells the story of a young Chinese-American girl who dreams of being prom queen. The only problem is all the prom queens at her school are blonde and White, forcing her into some radical decisions. The film shows us the pain of trying to fit into a racist system, and the privileges one has in simply being born White. Written and directed by Amy Wang, the film won the 2025 South By Southwest Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature and stars Shirley Chen, Mckenna Grace, and Amelie Zilber.
