Maureen Folan is trapped woman-trapped by her invalid mother, trapped in a small Irish town, and trapped by her own mind. But when the handsome and charming Pato Dooley starts paying attention to her, she sees an opportunity to escape. Her manipulative mother Mag thwarts every chance Maureen has of getting out. Considered by many as a black comedy, it demonstrates the destructive nature of abuse under the shroud of Irish humor. The show contains adult themes and violence. Not for younger audience members.
