Overview

The Other Road Theater Project opens its first season with David Ives’ Venus in Fur at The Storyteller Theater in Aurora, December 4–12.

After a long day of unsuccessful auditions, director Thomas is ready to leave when Vanda arrives: late, outspoken, and apparently unprepared. But as she reads for the lead in his adaptation of a nineteenth-century novel, she reveals a surprising understanding of the material. Their audition becomes a contest over who gets to tell the story and who holds the power.

Darkly funny and charged with sexual tension, this two-person play offers an evening of theater for adults looking for something beyond the usual holiday fare. Directed by Jeremy Haig and staged in the thrust, the production places audiences close to the action in an intimate Aurora venue.

Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m., with matinees at 2:30 p.m. Visit the ticket link for the complete schedule and pay-what-you-can options.

For mature audiences. Contains strong language, sexual themes, BDSM, and mentions of child abuse.
