AURORA WELCOMES TWO NATIONAL RARE DISEASE CONFERENCES, HIGHLIGHTING CITY’S ROLE AS A HUB FOR CARE, COMMUNITY, AND CONNECTION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Aurora, Colo. — This July, Aurora Colorado, will serve as the national gathering place for two leading rare disease organizations as both the TSC Alliance and the Angelman Syndrome Foundation host their national conferences simultaneously at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center.

The co-occurrence of these two major conferences, each supporting communities affected by rare neurological conditions, is both rare and meaningful. The TSC Alliance, which hosts its international conference only once every four years, supports individuals and families impacted by tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), a genetic disorder that can cause tumor growth in vital organs, seizures, and autism. At the same time, the Angelman Syndrome Foundation will convene families and researchers focused on Angelman syndrome, a neurogenetic disorder that also presents with developmental and neurological challenges. Together, the events will bring thousands of attendees from across the country to Aurora, reinforcing the city’s growing reputation as a destination for impactful meetings that extend beyond business into community and care.

“This moment is incredibly meaningful for our community. Bringing together two rare disease communities, each navigating complex, lifelong conditions, creates an opportunity not just for learning, but for connection, shared understanding, and collective progress,” shared Amanda Moore, CEO of the Angelman Syndrome Foundation. “When families, researchers, and clinicians come together like this, it reminds us that while our diagnoses may be different, our challenges and hopes are deeply aligned.”

“In rare disease collaboration is the key,” according to Kari Luther Rosbeck, President and CEO of the TSC Alliance. “We are honored to join in partnership with the Angelman Syndrome Foundation and Visit Aurora to make these critical learning opportunities available for our community. We hope this is just a springboard for our two rare disease organizations to work together in advocacy, access and development of helpful resources to further our missions.”

While each organization hosts its own programming, the simultaneous timing has created a unique opportunity for shared understanding and collaboration between two communities that, while distinct, face many similar challenges.

“This is a powerful example of how Aurora brings people together, not just for meetings, but for moments that matter,” said Bruce Dalton, CEO of Visit Aurora. “Hosting both of these conferences at the same time underscores our city’s strength as a place where innovation, compassion, and community intersect.”

Aurora’s role as host city is especially meaningful given its strong ties to both communities. The region is home to specialized clinics and care teams at Children’s Hospital Colorado, one of the nation’s leading pediatric hospitals, where many families receive ongoing treatment, support, and resources. This local connection adds an additional layer of significance for attendees, many of whom will be visiting not just for education and networking but also to engage with care providers and communities that have long supported their journeys. Beyond the conferences themselves, Visit Aurora sees this moment as an opportunity to elevate awareness of rare diseases and connect more families in the Denver metro area with available resources.

Aurora continues to attract organizations seeking destinations that offer more than meeting space. With more than 11,500 hotel rooms, over one million square feet of meeting space, and proximity to Denver International Airport and the Rocky Mountains, the city provides both accessibility and experience. But as these conferences demonstrate, Aurora’s greatest strength lies in its ability to host gatherings that create lasting impact.
