Explore Colorado’s past from fossil leaves to jetpacks at Aurora History Museum’s March Speaker Series. Dive into paleobotany and dinosaurs, the hidden histories of Aurora–Denver cemeteries, trailblazing LGBTQ milestones, the unrealized “Science Fiction Land,” and a 1968 floral workers’ strike, led by experts from DMNS, Morrison Natural History Museum, History Colorado, and acclaimed local historians. Turning Over a New [Fossil] Leaf: Colorado’s Paleobotanical Discoveries

Join Dr. Gussie Maccracken for a fascinating look at new discoveries in Colorado’s fossilized flora. See how plant fossils reveal the ancient forests that once covered the state and hear about the research she is currently conducting at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Entrance to the Aurora History Museum for this talk is $5 for adults and $1 for kids.

April 30, 2026, marks Aurora’s 135th Birthday. After the birthday party on May 2, you can discover the history of your city. This free presentation discusses Donald Fletcher, the early years of Aurora history and the places and people that made up the young town.

History Hike: Fitzsimmons Army Hospital to CU

Join the Aurora History Museum for their first History Hike of the year! This is a guided 1.5-mile walk around Aurora's first military base. Whether you call it Guthiel Gardens, Army Hospital #21, Fitzsimons, or Anschutz, that piece of land has gone through a lot of changes in the past century. Explore the history of the base, its buildings and its people while strolling around the campus. Cost: $4 per person.

Magical Meet & Greets: Mario & Luigi

Magical Meet & Greets is a new monthly event series at Town Center at Aurora, where families can enjoy character experiences, photos, and interactive fun in the heart of the mall. The first event features Mario and Luigi on Sunday, April 12, from 1–3 PM at the Lower Level Center Court, where kids can meet the iconic gaming brothers, take photos, and join in the fun. The free, family-friendly event also makes a perfect stop before heading to the Century Movie Theater to watch the new Super Mario Movie, which releases April 3, kicking off a series of magical monthly meet-and-greet experiences.
